Dark side of the… diet plan - how not to give up (part 1)
As more and more of our friends go for South Beach I discover how different people react in different ways for a diet plan (any diet - not only SB). So to help you (and myself) motivate I will write something about some difficulties that may occur on your way to a lovely, sunny beach, South Beach. ![]()
Here are the examples of - by far - most common issues that dieting people have to resolve. (I use Capital Letters because this can sometimes be a serious problems.)
- No Sweets
- Too Many Eggs / I Don’t Like Eggs
- I Love: Pizza / French Fries / Pastas / Noodle / Potatoes / Fast Food / …
- No Alcohol
- No Fruits
- Too Many Restrictions
- No Sweet Beverages, Energetic Drinks [Enter Your Favourite Brand Here]
- Dining Out and Parties
- Going Shopping
- I Don’t Know What Can I Eat
Wow, it became quite a long list. To be honest - we luckily found our diet plan relatively easy to continue. We had some hard moments (and still have especially when a Sweeeet Temptation occurs…) but we somehow managed and now we try to help our friends to stay on the course too.
So what can I say when one (or some) of those problems happens to be yours? Let’s see…
No Alcohol
I start with this one on purpose. I found that it can be the [STOP] sign before even starting for some people.
Well if you really enjoy some drinks with friends you should feel OK with the diet, as - I assure you - you will enjoy time spend with your friends even more when you lose some of weight you shouldn’t be lifting all the time on your back (or belly). I enjoy dancing more than before, I feel better and it is VERY nice when people around are amazed with the results. Oh and I’m also healthier so let me ask you this one: can alcohol REALLY do ANY of those nice things? And what is more important - overall health and feeling (being slim for years) or short good feeling of alcohol? This is one of the most important question before starting ANY diet and not only according to an alcohol.
On the other side - if you feel it difficult not to drink a beer with friends, take a drink - pure tomato sauce without vodka and pretend it’s “Bloody Mary”. Add lot of Tabasco and show how tough you are ![]()
Few years ago I found out that driving my own car can be actually GOOD for parties - because going out of the bar was not the end of party - I drove my friends back and sometimes parties where just starting once more by this. And I NEVER drive after drinking.
And remember this - you are not signing abstinence act for life! You still can enjoy, let’s say, a glass of red wine once for a few days (some say it’s also good for health - showing French people as example, but in France they also eat A LOT of healthy food).
We even had quite a New Year night during first four weeks of our diet plan. And we had “a little bit” more than a glass of wine on that occasion. But all worked really well and we continued to lose weight. But you should always treat such occasions… well very occasional - make them casual and you can lose (but not weight this time).
So keeping your health and well-being for life in mind can help you win a lot!
